Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how brewiee ("brewiee", "we", "us", or "our") handles personal data when you use the brewiee website and the brewiee app for iOS and Android (together, the "Service").
1. Data We Collect
- Account data: your email address (used to send sign-in links), your account identifier, and when the account was created and last used.
- Profile data: what you choose to add, such as a display name and profile photo.
- Activity and content: ratings, review text, taste tags, favourites, followed breweries, badges, and notification preferences.
- beeQ: the question you ask, the taste preferences and favourites used to answer it, and your current location when beeQ needs it to find nearby results (see section 3).
- Diagnostics: when the app encounters an error, the error message, the screen it happened on, app version, platform, device or browser type, and a random session identifier. If you are signed in, this is linked to your account.
- Sharing: when you share a brewery, beer, or post, what was shared and how. If you are signed in, this is linked to your account.
- Analytics: usage information collected by Google Analytics, described in section 6.
We do not ask for or store your date of birth, phone number, government ID, or payment details.
2. How We Use Data
- Sign you in and maintain your account.
- Show nearby and city-relevant breweries, beers, events, and posts.
- Save your ratings, reviews, favourites, follows, badges, and preferences.
- Answer beeQ questions and improve recommendations.
- Keep the Service secure, enforce usage limits, fix errors, and prevent abuse.
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
- Respond to support, privacy, and feedback requests.
3. Location
Location permission is optional, but nearby features and beeQ need it. When you allow it, the app uses your location on your device to calculate distances to breweries, and keeps your most recent location on your device for up to 24 hours so nearby results appear quickly.
Your location is sent to our servers only when you ask beeQ a question, so it can find results near you. It is used for that answer and is not stored. We do not build a location history or use your location for advertising. You can turn location off at any time in your device settings.
4. Age Confirmation
When you first open the app, you are asked to confirm that you are 21 or older. Your answer is stored only on your device: that you confirmed, and which version of these documents you accepted. If you choose "Not for me", the app is unavailable on that device for 24 hours. We do not send this answer to our servers and do not collect your date of birth.
5. Public Content
Ratings, review text, taste tags, and the display name or profile photo shown with them may be visible to other users. Please do not include sensitive personal information in reviews. We may moderate or remove content that breaks our Terms of Use.
6. Service Providers and Sharing
We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising. We use these providers to run the Service:
- Supabase: sign-in, database, file storage, and backend functions.
- OpenAI: beeQ sends the text of your question to OpenAI to understand it and match it with beer information. Your account identifier and location are not sent to OpenAI.
- Google Analytics: measures how the website and app are used, such as screens viewed, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not send your email address or account identifier to Google Analytics.
- Cloudflare: website hosting, delivery, and security.
- Email delivery providers: to send sign-in links and service messages.
- Apple and Google: when you download, update, or test the app through their stores or testing services.
These providers may process data outside India under their own contractual and security safeguards. We may also disclose data where required by law, to protect users or the Service, or in a business reorganisation with appropriate safeguards.
7. Data Stored on Your Device
The app and website store some information on your device to work properly: your sign-in session, theme and city choices, your age confirmation, your most recent location (as described above), and recently viewed items. You can clear this by signing out, clearing the app's data, or deleting the app.
8. Retention
- Account data and your content: kept while your account is active.
- Error diagnostics: deleted automatically after about 30 days.
- Sharing records: deleted automatically after about 90 days.
- beeQ: question text may be cached, without your account identifier or location, to make answers faster.
- When you delete your account: we delete your profile, ratings, reviews, favourites, follows, badges, preferences, and the diagnostics and sharing records linked to you, along with your profile photo and sign-in account. Copies in routine backups expire on their normal schedule.
9. Your Rights and Choices
- Edit your profile and manage your ratings, reviews, favourites, and follows in the app.
- Turn location access on or off in your device settings.
- Delete your account at any time from Profile > Settings > Delete account.
- Contact us to access, correct, or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, nominate someone to exercise your rights, or raise a grievance.
We may need to confirm your identity before completing a request. Some data may be kept where the law requires it or to protect the security of the Service.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections, managed sign-in, access controls, and restricted backend permissions to protect personal data. No service can guarantee absolute security, so please keep your email account and sign-in links secure.
11. Age Restriction
The Service is strictly for people aged 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 21. If you believe someone under 21 has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will update the date above and, for important changes, ask you to review and accept the updated version in the app.
13. Contact and Grievances
For privacy requests, questions, or grievances, contact [email protected].
